FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We hope that you have been able to understand more about GB Guardians and the services we can offer from browsing our website.

However, we understand that you may have more specific queries relating to your child’s personal requirements whilst in the UK.

Please find below a list of questions we are most frequently asked.

If you have any other questions or would simply like a personal response please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to discuss your query with you.

Yes, a GBG representative will always meet your child upon arrival and accompany them to the awaiting transportation.

If it is your child’s first time in the UK or they are starting a new school, if they wish, their GBG guardian will meet them at the airport and accompany him/her to their new school to help settle them in.

We arrange private transport through Sparespace taxis (our affiliated transport company also founded by Pete Evans).

All of the drivers are familiar with the schools that we work with and the children also get to know the drivers throughout their time in the UK. All the drivers have enhanced DBS checks and valid taxi licences. We have a variety of vehicles available to meet all requirements.

We understand that it is not always possible for children to return home during the school holidays, especially half term and school exeat weekends. If your child is unable to return home we will organise for him/her to stay with one of our host families or to join us on one of our activity weeks/weekends.

We do encourage children to return home during the Christmas and Summer vacations as these are quite lengthy and we believe that it is healthy for a child to return home to their family during these times.

If your child needs to stay with us for a few days at the beginning and end of term in order to accommodate flight times, end of term events etc we would be happy to arrange this especially as we have a number of host families located near to Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

You will be provided with the details of your child’s guardian when you receive your joining pack. This information will contain the guardian’s mobile number which can be used to contact the guardian 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during term time for any emergency that may occur.

Please ensure that your child’s school has the contact details for the guardian in order that they can get hold of them quickly in the event of an emergency.

We will make sure that your child’s guardian lives in close proximity of the school that your child will be attending in order that they can arrive at the school promptly if required.

Yes, we can organise all travel to and from the airport at the beginning and end of each term. If your child needs to attend any appointments outside of school we are able to arrange this with prior notice.

We can also make bookings for any international flights or transfers home if required or if your child wishes to visit another country during their time in our care.

All travel is an extra cost in addition to the guardianship fee and will be added to your child’s termly invoice.

We have close links with a specialist tutoring company and can arrange for your child to receive specific help with the English language before they start school. The tutors are able to teach their lessons via Skype which has proved to be a very effective way of preparing children for their arrival in the UK.

We also offer our Premium Package Plus 1 -2 week ‘before you start programme’ which provides for an immersion week or two either in your own home or with one of our host families. In both instances a tutor will visit your child each day to help with their English language and also to prepare them for life in a British boarding school.
